I wasnt sure if the only differences in the x16 an 14 were the capacity otherwise it would make more sense. Its not unheard of in rally cars.

ive heard of 1600's being stroked to a smaller capacity for rally class puropses..

something to do with it being more reliable with a smaller stroke/ larger bore

12k is a heafty buget, just interested in what it revs too, what spec cams hes got etc.....may give him a call.
