wiring is a bit tricky, needs a competent auto electrician to get everything working properly.

done a few and they always wind me up

when I do it I build a new wiring loom between the car and the ecu and diagnostic port, takes a bit longer but you get a much better installation

erm, rob b's wiring on his corsa (dont know who did it) was shockingly bad, when we got the car we ended up ripping the complete car loom out and starting from scratch as it was a fire hazard. Was just a bundle of semi burnt wires and black tape.

thats the problem with these conversions, it takes lots of time and knowledge and most people end up doing it completely wrong.

the 1.6 will be more insurance friendly and usually more reliable.

Fire hazard, whatever mate, the car worked for a year and half with no glitches at all, must of been the dodgy wiring that made it run for that long without breaking, and considering id never done it before to get it to run i thought it was quite good.. TBH, we didnt touch the car loom and i sold you a shell so that shouldnt matter.

That really has annoyed me that youve said that Dave, because it worked for a year and a half with no problems, and ive never touched wires and stuff before..

In answer to your question Kylie, all i did was match the wires from the car loom to the engine loom, and then run a wire to the fuel pump relay i think it was to get it to run, and it was fine for a year and half to something in the engine packed up ..

They can be, but youve got to think there now all 15 or so years old, deffinetly be quicker than anything you can do with a 1.6 corsa though mate .

its a bit hard but as i say mate, even though Dave doesnt agree, mine worked for a year and a half with no problems, only problem i had was the idle control valve but thats a common problem, there was nothing else wrong with the way the car operated at all..

Rob, dont take everything so seriously, the wiring in your old car was seriously messed up, but that isnt a personal attack on you. Calm down a bit.

Dan took pics of the wiring when we removed it all, sure he still has them somewhere, it was seriously bad, no solder just bundles of twisted together wires and black tape.

IMO if your going to convert, go for a fully rebuilt 2.0 redtop. If your going for the 1.6, sell your sxi, and buy a 1.6 instead.
