Most people wouldn't rather pay extra, including you probably.
Computers for instance, the warranty costs would go up to pay for the more expensive labour, you'd go elsewhere because they have cheaper warrantys and no support, then moan about the lack of support and go back to the original place.
I hate speaking to indian call centres but I understand the reasoning behind it.
it depends on the difference to be honest, yeah if they were loads cheaper, then thing is, they move to indian call centres but do the customers see any benefits or does the profit margin increase more?! I'm going for the latter to be honest.
Yup see that would be a good argument you know keeping costs down for the customers by using indian call centres, but er lets see our costs dont go down infact they usually increase, the only thing that changes is the banks profit margins get bigger.
I cud understand it if it was a strugling business or something but banks make billions in profit each year i just dont feel they can justify moving work to india.
However, on that note i used to work in a UK based call centre and half the people there could not solve problems lol.

"ok, let me read that back to you 07698152125

The uk support number most likely just beeps in his ear in exactly the same way as the support numbers for other english speaking countries.
Use phonetics to help spell out things like an email address, this also applies to uk call centers.

but if i was speaking to someone in england i could just say "steve" and they would know.
Why should it be hard work to partake in basic communcation with a company that im a paying customer of?
not to mention it took about 10 minutes before i could even start to discuss my problem.
