Hey,

Well im doing mechanical engineering level 3 at college as we have to do a project next year going towards our certificate.

Iv had the thought of making a custom inlet manifold for my C12NZ, doing a dyno of it with standard one and custom one afterwards.
Does anyone know the dimensions or any information i should know? I have never made anything car/engine wise before.

Any information will be gratefully recieved

Im really excited on making this as its my first car and well any bhp would be good.

Thanks for readin

Si

get a 1.6 astra spi inlet and have a look at that, if you can improve that your on to a winner, that inlet and 1.8 cav throttle body and 1.4 corsa spi injector give a bit of extra power, well with a nova sr cam too

That wont work on a c12nz/\
As c12 has a single throttle body and injector.

16v engines have a plenum.

Completely different intake system.

Bugger .

So there would be now way in replicating the system? I was hoping to buid something less restrictive that the standard one.

c12nz's are bomb proof lol, i might turbo mine to test this theory, but what i meant with the 1.6 inlet is get one, take a look at it and see if you can make your own one thats less restrictive and then make another and sell it to me

you wouldnt build the turbo, but you would build the exhaust manifold for it? and fabricate some piping for the inlet and intercooler, to save on money you could use the turbo and intercooler from a scrappy off a 1.5 td corsa

surely part of your project would be getting parts off your car and measuring them up to get the dimensions to fabricate the new parts?

The idea's there mate, but on your engine it's not worth doing in my opinion.

What other projects are people doing/have previously done?
