Dad has owned a MK5 Golf for 2 years now. Has owned Vauxhalls on and off for the past 20+ years. Says the Golf is the best car he's ever had.

If you work with them then you will see all the ones that come in with problems.

Earlier VW quality was afar superior to Vauxhalls at that stage (mk1+2 golf era)... Very well put together, and the golf engines are only really being run in at 80k+... Then they actually start to loosen up.

Come Mk3, the golf had seriously gone downhill.

In todays world, VW's quality really isn't any higher than Vauxhalls.

As for Asians, your forgetting piumped BMW's and daddys Mercs Check me out driving daddys car.....

This is what I sent my sister at 12.14pm today Which is exactly what you said

Of course the Golf will hold its value better, its because of the VW myth that they are good cars when in reality they are overpriced tat which really is no better than a Vauxhall which costs 10k less. Older VW's are streets ahead of older Vauxhalls (unless its a Nova) but not these days, I don't see how VW continue to hold onto their reputation because everyone I talk to who has owned a Audi or VW say the same thing that they aren't really that good.
