Its is illegal to do as well, even the tinting spray is virtually non existant these days as people got to heavy with it and then you cant see any lights through

Here's a pic of my car is 2002 with the rear lights painted to match:

Bradshwas (the bodyshop I use) painted my clear rear lights with a dilute laquer of the colour of my car. This way the bulbs etc still show through and I *think* they will pass an mot but don't quote me on that.

Your lights look well Jill. See i dont no wot to do now. They look class but i dont no if ill be able to find sum1 to do it and i wudnt trust myself for it. U have the exact same wheels as me. Wot size are your wheels and how low is your car cos i dont no how much my car is lowered. Mine looks slightly lower but ive speakers in the boot

Ok that pic was taken in 2002 and my car no longer looks like that or has those alloys.... But in that pic the alloys were 17"s and it was lowered 40mm with no ICE in the boot and a 1.0 12v . Few more pics of it in 2002 in my garage
I would just ring a couple of bodyshops and explain that you want your rearlights colour coded, see if they can do it. And ask if they will just spray them or use a dilute laquer etc. Then take it from there- if they're a reputable competant bodyshop they will be able to do it without a doubt if not send em my way and will get Bradshaws to do them for you .

Thought my car was bout 40 but it was bouncing about more than my mates, must be just down to the size of the wheels. Ill try a few places here. Cheers
