My nissens rad ive had sitting about turned out to be the wrong one so I am returning it, went down a local motor factors and ordered a standard one to collect in time for next weeks happening.
My 'standard' rad I ordered turned out to be a aluminium valeo one, so I wasn't complaining!
Fitted it yesterday only to find out it didnt come with a cap, and the old one didnt fit. Halfords werent stocking the 106 caps either. Soo, I usued my initiative and tried the cap off my brothers Fiesta but unfortunately it was too big. As a last resort I had a look in my mums Rover 400 and it turned out to be a perfect fit so I went down halfords again and bought a rover one for myself to keep her happy!
My 4-2-1 is also on teh car now, I managed to snap one of the bolts in the head although there was enough left to fit the manifold and get a stud over it, for now that is.
Since the car has been back on the road ive taken it for a spirited drive and am very happened with the performance from the new manifold, the water temp has also been kept very low which is great.
Here are some pics for good measure.
New rad...

The manifold as fitted (or bodged, for time being!)

...and my new Rover rad cap

I wasnt expecting a raised power band, not until I have my new cam. Mid range torque has been increased as expected, which makes me happy Wasnt too bothered about having a standard crappy rad as long as it was running but yeah as you say, brucey bonus!

other way round mate, its not avisable to heatwrap stainless ones as they are more prone to cracking (which is unlikely anyway if its over 1.5mm gauge)

good work, the ali rads really do keep the temps down. Piant the wingmirrors will freshen up the looks too, well worth it imo.

The alu rad has been brilliant so far, temp has been well down. Still havent managed to get the rad to kick in even after long drives. Can't be a bad thing.
