Ok so some point in the near future my exhaust is going to have to be changed, I've decided on using supersprint stuff which will consist of a manifold, sports cat, mid pipe and backbox.

For the mid pipe I've got 2 options...

1. Silenced

2. Un-silenced

Apart from option 2 probably being noisier is there a performance benefit from losing a silencer?

The critical thing here is the car will have to be kept under 98db for track use and a future plan is throttle bodies.

All constructive input is most appreciated

Thanks
Tim

If you need it to be kept under 98bd, got for the 1st one. With the second one, u'll loose backpresser, hence loosing out on torque mid-range.

Silenced, the unsilenced one will be raspy.

Does having a silencer actualy affect the noise ?

Also how does back pressure work? I havent got my silencer in just A back box from CAT back and tbh it does seem like its lacking, how does this work then??

yes it will be deeper sound rather than a higher pitched, raspy noise
