my brother just passed his test and is going to look at a 5door 1.7 TD astra mk4. what if any are the pros and cons of getting a diesel.... should i put him off as im thinking even thought its cheaper to insure, would it be more expensive to fix?

A friend of mine had nothing but trouble with his mk3. Head, Water pump, turbo, brakes etc.

ok, im just not sure. hes not into the whole doing it up thing and he just wants a motor to get to work and back etc... seems cheap its a '99 v plate mk4 with 80thou on clock for 1700£

Should be ok on that year, it should be the isuzu lump fitted to that which are generally pretty reliable engines
