It didn't do so well box office but its certainly glorious, plus its got the very randy Georgina Chapman.

Scarface.

The ultimate in rise and fall narrative of the main character. It's also kind of based on a true story, with stock footage.

Not only that, but the similar era that the Godfather was produced, it was at a time when Hollywood was in crisis, and American cinema was overtly representing the American life and the shit that was going on.

Plus it has sub narrative of love etc.

Culturally, any film from '68 to 78' will have plenty to write about.
