ok well as some of you may have noticed ive been debating wot engine to put in my Corsa, for a long while i have been thinking about doing either a 2.0l 16v or a 2.0l turbo...

but would something like a 1.4 16v supercharged engine into a corsa be more reasonably priced as the swap would be straight forward, and to be honest im not after stupid power from the car no more, jus something that'l give me some speed when i feel i need it, and also considering the car practically drives on the floor as its lowered to the max on FK coilovers and with 14" rims...

just want to know what you guys think and rough costing...and the usual...

cheers

i will be honest with you...the car is going to be lowered on 14" rims, and when i say lowered i mean slammed, so putting a large engine in there means i cud encounter problems with the sump and clearance...so that is why im looking for a smaller engine...where is the best place to look for a 1.4 16v engine...and also would the engine's from astras or tigra's drop straight into a corsa c

think the pain in the arse is finding the mountings to fit an engine from a b into a c. easiest thing to do is get one from a c to start with that way itll drop straight in. a 1.4 shouldnt make much difference to weight if ur on coilovers u can wind it up a bit anyway to take the weight of a new engine

The 1.4 and 1.8 are both small block engines.

The 1.4/1.6 from the B/Tigra will fit, the block is the same, you just need to use the mounts from a 1.4 C.

Your best bet would be the 1.8, it's no taller than the 1.4, so sump clearance wouldn't be an issue any more so than on the 1.4.

The main problem you have is wiring, the B/Tigra engines won't plug straight in, so you'd have to splice the looms together etc to get it to work.

Has the car you have had any work which is non-transferable?

You'd be FAR better buying a car with the engine already in.

nah aint had no work done to it at all so far...

yea been thinking about buyin a 1.4 or 1.8 but the thing is my car has done serious mileage and won't fetch much so buying an engine would jus mean im better off finacially...

also if i were to put a 1.8 in the car what sort of brakes would i need...considering i will be running 14" wheels...

you'd want them as big as you could, which would probably be 260mm.

You would DEFINITELY want something better than the standard 260s, so wilwood 4 pots would be on the list.
