I have heard of quite a few people who have shaved the calliper to fit behind speedlines when using a V6 setup, so thats why im dubious about 308mm.

Plain discs are better, genuine GM ones, EBC ones tend to warp easily.

I just wouldn't bother with anything other than plain discs, it doesn't make that much difference on a Corsa 
As for pads, Ferodo are good apparently.

got standard 1.6 256mm brakes on mine and i have to be careful not to brake too quick cos people behind get a wee bit close to my rear end if i do.
what enging have you got?

It's all down to the caliper, you can get 300/305 behind 15s if the calipers are right
