I rang up specifically yesterday asking wether or not i could cash the cheque from my insurance company straight away. They said yes, as long as i brought the right details with me.

So today when i got the cheque, went to the bank and asked for it to be cashed, they said no, it takes 4 days. That means no car for another 4 days.

That is all.

they can only normally do it if its the same bank as yours. Otherwise they dont really have any way of doing it, unless they take the risk of it not clearing which for a large amount as I guess it is they wouldnt do.

haha. Just went back to the bank and talked to the manager. She sorted it all out. Got a small charge but worth it!
