Heya Guys

I got myself a Magnex 6x4 backbox for my 1.2 SXI. I am about to get it fitted but am having a lot of trouble finding a place to fit it for me. As soon as you mention 'after market exhaust fitting' to most garages they run a mile! My local garage who i use for MOT's said they could fit it, but will find it hard to find the corect 'reducer joint' or something like that as they are not easily available. They rekon it will cost about £150...thats if they can get the adaptor. This can't be right can it? Can anyone offer me any advice on where to get this fitted, or how to go about finding a place? Alternatively, anyone in the South who is competant could fit it for me, and i will pay the going rate! Cheers Guys

Fit it yourself. Backboxes are really easy to change. As for the reducer joint, im pretty sure they should be readily available.

But seriously they are easy to change, probably 2 bolts and thats it lol

Go to kwikfit/ats/national/wherever, on a Sunday morning, when the boss is out, slip one of the guys a tenner and they'll do it.

Also, they shouldn't need to mess about with reducers. If it's made for the car, it's a straight swap.

I was £70 to get a s/s centre section made and fitted. They took my back box off my current exhaust and put it onto my new centre section

The 6x4 was never made specifically for a 1.2! It was 1.4 and upwards, therefore a reducer is needed! Has anyone got any idea where i can obtain a reducer from myself? :S

Ah, my bad.

You should be able to get a reducer from your local parts place.

Jack up car or better, find someone with a pit or car ramps. Undo the clamp holding the backbox on.

Get the rubbers off the backbox. A flatblade screwdriver and a bit of WD40 helps. Then twist, bang, swear and kick it until it comes off.

Get some exhaust paste and put this around the end of the pipe. Put new backbox on, rubbers on and tighten the clamp up.

Or, Kwik Fit on a Sunday morning..........
