Hi Everyone,
I need information regarding to gearbox options on a 1999 Corsa 1.2 ecotec. With the original box she is great around town but, on the motorway the rev’s seems high. Ideally I would like to reduce 5th by 500 rpm. At the moment 60 = 3000rpm, 70 = 3500rpm.
Thanks for any ideas.

your gearbox came in two varients. the CR (close ratio) or the WR (wide ratio). you idealy want the wr for motorway driving. this info can be found on the g/box or someone on here might know from your details . If you have the CR rather than a WR it should be a straight swap, altho u wud comprimise aceleration. on the other side you cud fit a lazy v6 omega engine with a 6 speed f28?

3500rpm at 70 is ok, if you did get a wr i bet you would compain there was not enough grunt to over take etc
note worth the hassle

Thanks for the replies guys,
I thought the WR could overstretch the engine with the ratios and, I would transfer the problem with overtaking.
Thanks again for the info, you've all been a help.
