There probably both charges the police can do you for if you commit such a crime, they probably used the tougher one on this occasion because of the severity of it & to try & get the message accross that its not on!!
Bit of advice, buy a people carrier & get the snip.

we do have a people carrier, i was out on a job with work,gf calls me and asks if i can collect them, i was passing that way so it was easier to collect them in the van,the supermarket is only a couple of streets from home,
