im in the process of fitting a new lower suspension set up, and im trying to take off the standard suspension..

however, on the front, at the top of the strut in the engine bay you have to hold the big nut with a drop neck spanner and turn a second smaller nut with another spanner, but the smaller nut is so tight that the spanner as started to round it off, even thought im using spanners that are the exact fit. one of the nuts has almost turned circular and ive tryed the other strut and its doing the same :S

anyone got any tips because im tearin me hair out here

cheers. chris.

you need to use a deep drop neck ringer. are you replacing the shocks as well or just springs?

Shocking it simular to hitting with a hammer

mole grips on the little nut, and a ring spanner on the larger nut...........or wrap some cardboard around the shock piston, and then clamp that with mole grips,.

grip the strut towards the top with the mole grips then it will be fine to re-use.

It sounds like you are undoing it the wrong way.

You are not trying to undo the centre nut, you need to be removing the outer nut.

The outer nut turns anticlockwise, therefore if you are trying to undo it by turning the centre nut you need to turn the centre clockwise.

NO

The little nut IS the shockabsorber.
If you hold the bottom of the shocker you need to be trying to undo the outer nut!
