JR:

we have shortened the stroke and the shock body even further as the travel in the piston rod when down about 60mm was limited. so by shortening the body and the stroke it allows lower ride heights without sacrificing comfort or durability. heres what I mean:

if the piston rod has a total of 100mm of travel from fully extended to fully compressed and you lower the car 60mm, you have effectively reduced the available piston travel down to 40mm. this means a stiffer spring and damping rate needs to be used to avoid the strut bottoming out under compression over big bumps.

by shortening the shock body further and reducing the piston stroke by the same amount, (lets say 40mm) when lowered 60mm from standard ride height you will still have 80mm of travel left so softer springs and damping rates can be used and so retaining the low ride, comfort and durability (durability because a shock absorber will last longer if a longer piston stroke is used as opposed to a piston which only ever travels up and down 20mm in stroke)

the reason GAZ dont do this as standard on their corsa kits is that the best ride height for handling is around -40mm anyway.

hope that makes sense
