Not my car lol, but my girlfriend said her Y reg punto overheated the other day, steam was coming from the engine she said. She left it to cool down and drove straight home. any idea what could have caused it, and what could be wring with it.
Ive checked the oil around the oil cap, and it all seems clear (no mayo build up)
Any ideas?

Did it acutally over heat or was it standing still and the temp gauge went up and the fan kicked in?

Check and see if the fuse for the fan has gone...

Baring in mind she knows nothing about cars, she told me no dials moved (temp guage) but steam was coming from the engine.
I think the carw as moving, but at low speeds as it happened whilst going to tesco?
