I was set to save 35% with 1 years no claims so in theory, my premium goes up by about £450.

corsa_tomtom1502 - thanks for the advice, will do

adjust the rubbers on the bonnet, they just turn and that'll stop the squeaking.

Excellent, cheers. So a common fault when having a new bonnet then?

The rubbers should be properly adjusted if the bonnet is on straight...

the rubbers could be left at many different levels ans yet have the bonnet sitting on straight and level with the wings. all depends on how much of a firm close you want to the bonnet..

Well, it was squeaking like buggery taking the missus home - I think everything has shrunk slightly in the cold. Wound the rubbers out 2 turns each roughly, and there is no squeak turned the spring as well, not sure what that did!

All sorted now, can't wait to get the Depos and grill back on.

Oh, 1 other grumble. I had put some 30% brilliance bulbs in. 1 headlight was smashed, the other fine. Even though they had 2 new lights, they used 1 of the old bulbs. So now I have a lovely mix of yellowish light and whiteish light

well u cant claim for a worn bulb on the undamaged side of the car because the new one looks brighter. thats like wrecking the suspenion on one side and having to get the other side replaced as well because its not in as good condition. insurance companies/bodyshops are not charities they are businesses..

this squeak u speak of is hard to explain without hearing it/seeing exactly wots going on.. if u wound the rubbers out 2 turns that will have raised the height of the bonnet to the wings and in turn made the gap between the wings and bonnet bigger and made the bonnet easier/harder to open and close nicely depending if u screwed them up or not...

No, it is the undamaged bulb which is brighter because it is a 30% Brilliance bulb from Halfords - it is my fault for not telling them it wasn't a standard bulb.

Yeah, I noticed this norning that the bonnet is quite high because of winding the rubbers out, but it definitely worked. Just need to wind them back in 1 turn and I think it'll be fine.

Lee - it's great to have it back
