Do they work just the same as cheques? Do they need time to clear?
Bought something off ebay a while ago, sent a cheque away but wrote £36.00 in numbers and £33 in words, haha ooops now he's getting angry and asking for a postal order because it will be quicker

I've no idea about Postal Orders either. Someone on ebay paid me by postal order a few weeks ago but I haven't tried to cash it yet. I would have thought the post office will just cash it there and then

you go to the post office ask for a postal order for the amount needed, you send it to them, they get it take it to a post office and they will cash it there and then,no time needed to wait, its easier...
The post office also add a small fee for the postal order.

just recieved one today. can cash in as soon as you get it. takes no time to clear. it's basically money on a paper that is trackable through the post...

post office charges you a small fee. hardly anything. between 1% and 8.75% i believe depending on the amount. but to recieve one it doesn't cost you anything. you just take it to the post office and they give you the cash there and then.

Instant cash, but costs you a small fee to buy in the first place. Its £8.75 max though, rather than 8.75% I think.

They are only as easy as the person who sends them, if they cross the order or in most cases now the PO advises they are crossed (to stop people nicking them) you can only pay them into a bank and not exchange them for cash. Uncrossed ones are fine to cash at a PO.
Unless it has changed in the past 6 months.
