Not all places in Germany are like that. I stopped off in Nuremburg on the way back from Munich and I would liken in to some of the more disadvantaged areas of this country. Certainly wouldn't have felt safe walking alone and it wasn't clean.

I was going to say Liverpool funnily enough but sadly the conditions are not exclusive to my city. No single city in this country is without deprivation, much like any other country. Case in point being Germany. Its a nice place but to say its so much further ahead is a little incorrect.

I was only speaking from my own experience of Munich and Ingolstadt Ian. With them being core Bavarian cities, they are more affluent than the average.
Whenever I was out and about, I was still on edge, making sure I was aware of my surroundings etc, no point did I feel complacent about being there.
I think an overwhelming difference between here and there is the deep sense of loyalty to communities and family - they celebrate their heritage and ancestors whilst we seem to brush ours away to make room for people coming in with different backgrounds. I think that's a shame.

I agree its a lovely place and has many great facets, I just don't buy Olys bullshit that its the best place ever and so much better than the UK. Next thing he'll be telling us there are too many immigrants here and that he's moving there. That for me would be very ironic.

I've always commented on how it annoys me when people come here and make no effort to speak the language for example, and knowing how many english people believe that speaking foreign languages is a case of speaking english louder and more slowly, I was determined to learn as much german as possible.
If I'd just gone over and expected everyone to understand my language it would have been hypocritical IMO.

Of course it has its bad places, but London is one bad place altogether, Berlin is just wonderful, beautiful, clean.
What you have to remember is that most of the city is only 60 years old because we done an excellent job of destroying most of it, the Eastern side is a little run down but is still fairly new regardless.
If I could find a job out there that would suit me, I would have no hessitation in leaving for Berlin.
