I always leave my door unlocked, my mum locks it when she goes out then when I try to get out I need to put my key in and unlock the door

Feel sorry for you that your car got stolen but it could have been easily avoided if your keys werent visible when walking through the front door and if you had a door that you needed to use a key to get in

With alot of people having their homes broken into and their keys taken while they are home/sleeping its something that some people might think about more now than a few years ago.

Phoned the police as soon as he realised, and his tracker company. Tracker was switched on, and it was sitting in a container at Dover he lived no-where near Dover.
I'm sure you'll get it back though - if they came in the house laughing/talking i.e. not being quiet, they can't be too professional etc.
At work we had the police swarming all over it the other week on one of my night shifts (helicopter aswell), turns out a stolen DB9 was in a container after it's tracker had been activated.

Was a daft thing to do leaving your car keys in a visible place even if they were in your house, My front door hasn't been locked in around 3 months as theres always somebody in, But i wouldn't dream of leaving my Car Keys in an obviouse place.. Saying that though, If you have ever read the Stolen Car forums on the Civictype-r Forum it might be better they found the Keys and not found you, Seen a number of instances where people have been badly beaten in their own homes for car keys

Aye i hope it all gets sorted for you
Your lucky that your mum feels she lives in a safe enough place to go to bed and leave the door unlocked, but it just goes to show no matter how safe you think it is - it isnt!
and it could of been muchos worse if your mum had woken up and gone downstairs...
