its 10 working days and its not free you only get a free retest if its within next working day and its on the list of defects stated in the mot station

depends on testing station-legally they can charge for a retest straight away if they wanted too

i did, failed on washer jet so i stuck a pin in it wiggled it about and then squirted the window, he saw and wrote out my certificate

Yes but most on a re test just test the failed items. If he charges full whack again dont they have to do a full MOT again

yup-but if a car fails on a bulb inop-the station can do a fast track retest and charge full test price if they wish-but that'd be bad for business.
personally i think 14 day free should be common place
