atkins? pure fat/protein, as much meat eggs cheese etc as you like, and if you want a bit of salad it dont hurt, just nothing like bread potatos milk choccy etc. you starve your body of carbs, and its forcced to use fat reserves, which burn quicker than carbs but is harder for your body to get at, so thats why your body willl use carbs and store fat... ok im rambling on.. anyway, excercise and atkins, try it for a week wihtout cheeting, and you will loose at least 7-10lbs

yeh 7-10lbs of a) water weight b)muscle c)little bit of fat, atkins is just a fad diet, yeh it might work for a week or 2 then your body gets used to it and you go back to normal and put the 7-10lbs back on within a few days. Fad diets/crash diets are absolute bollocks and a waste of time.

On the last page by wholewheat i meant wholemeal pasta, its fine for you but in moderation obviously. It depends on what your doing, some people just want to lose "weight" and don't care about preserving there muscle, so they lose weight but lose a lot of muscle to so you go from being fat to skinny. I am losing bodyfat but keeping/gaining muscle because i'm doing a body building cutting diet, which works perfectly just takes effort to read up on stuff. Depends on what your body type is like James, if your stocky/muscley under the "fat" then do the bodybuilding cutting diet

to much to write, to little time! :-P just read the forums i posted you'll learn more than anyone can tell you

I wouldnt say the atkins diet is a fad, there are plenty of people that have done the atkins and kept the weight off and not put it back on after 2 weeks, hence why it is very popular and alot of people try it.

Different diets work for different people in different ways so sometimes its a case of trial and error.

The Atkins diet is pretty dangerous. It's not the way to do things. Just eat healthy and ride your bike or something.

This is why atkins has such a bad name / reputation ...

Why the fuck do you need to eat PURE fat and lots of it?

Atkins can be done quite easily with under 20 g of carb a day and not stuffing your face full of full fat things constantly. Infact most meals on atkins could just be like a piece of chicken fillet with a bit of lettuce on the side...

That's neither containing fat or unhealthy. But would still contain minimal carbs.

The whole 'eat lots of fat / and as much as you like' is just a tag line to attract fat americans... As a result, 99% of people who hear the word 'atkins' say it's dangerous.

who is that a reply to russ? that has nothing to do with what my post was talking about.

I was talking about the fact you don't need to stuff your face full of fat just because your on atkins.

Russ, I lost most of my initial weight loss on atkins... About 3 years ago, going from just under 14 stone to 11 stone 10 within a matter of about 2 months...

Then stopped atkins and just generally ate healthily and go to the gym several times a week... over the last couple of years, just weight gradually fallen...

I'm currently weighing at high 9 stone / 10 stone flat depending on what the scales read.

Atkins helped give me the initial weight loss I needed and boosted my energy levels big time. Without I would of remained a lazy junk food eating, depressed loser.

Though I only used it for about 2 months - ever since I've just lost weight the natural way / gym / healthy eating etc.

and as for a 'fad' - I never put on the weight again, and it's been over 3 years now.

Trust me read the stickies, and the ones in the nutrition section and you learn. Thats what i did, now i eat every 3 hours and eat the right stuff and you feel 500% better, and the fat drops off you. Notice i said fat not weight, don't go by your weight constantly, as you can lose fat but stay at the same weight! Luckily for the first 6 months of training a "newbie" can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, after that you have to decide what you want to do.

Listen to this man. Good advice
