I need to know if my existing tyres will fit on 13" Softstars? I've been u2u'd by someone who has them for sale, £50 - I'm really tempted, just need to know if they'll fit?

And if they do fit, will they look stupid as they aren't really 'low profile' as such?

Any advice would be great

buy 16'' softstars and ditch the tyres dont worry if you paid a silly amount for them

and they would look qite silly with a huge profile but not sure if it would look better if you was to deck your car 60mm.

I can't - for the simple reason is I don't have the money to.

13" Softstars are going to be better than my steelies.

Anyone?

Does that mean changing the speedo configuration? Is that expensive?

If the 13" Softstars are wider than my steel wheels will the tyres still fit?

they will be fine. the softstars are only probably 5" wide, the wheels will be 4.5.

personally, I'd put the £50 towards the bigger wheel fund...

Ahhh ok, so that's what 5 x 13 means on the Irmscher website then, thanks.

I am really tempted by the 13's though for various reasons.
1) It hopefully won't make any difference to my insurance
2) When I need new tyres they also won't be too expensive
3) I don't plan on keeping the car for long to warrant spending huge amounts on it - I just want to keep it tidy and give it my personal touch.

So does stretching the tyres but 0.5" not make it unsafe? Will it pass an MOT?

I guess - although they do have Irmscher centre caps. Are replacements ones with Vaux badges expensive? The insurance policy also says any optional extras should be declared blaa blaa. Alloys were an option on the GLS.

not aftermarket, they shudn't charge you and you arent lying either

Is it possible to get replacement centre caps for them Softstars? i.e. Vauxhall ones, not Irmy 'I' ones.

Also, can anyone recommend some locking wheel nuts?

No point changing centre caps, just like i wouldnt tell my insurance that ive put a gsi bumper on my sport corsa, it was a standard bit on other corsa so it isnt aftermarket. If your with quinn direct they dont even care about alloys (thats if your with quinn direct)

Just been to insurance and Stapletons.

The tyres I have will stretch to 5.5" so that is all good. They will charge £42.31 to fit them. I have a £5 loyalty voucher as well so will be less.

Insurance want £55 - I should that is to cover administration more than anything. Definitely going to go for the alloys though. They will look much better than my wheel trims. Just need to save up the £55 though.

All in all it's adding up though wroth it I hope!
