Someone mentioned it at the meet today that to move a reg plate to another car they must both be taxed, MOT'd & insured. I definately don't want to lose my plate but this means taxing a car & MOT'ing a car just to move a plate

Im not happy Anyone else tried to do this & found a way around it?

Could always chop the chassis plate off the old shell & weld to the new one

A mate of mine actually done this after rolling his GTE through a field

So it just has to be MOT'd?

Then put it on retention is just putting it onto paper to sell? (£80 for that?) Then £25 to the new car?

it costs £105 then you have 1 year to put it onto a new car or sell it.
after 1 year you have to pay another £25.

Mine wasn't MoTd. The MoT had run out within a year though, so it was ok.
