bought the salomon boots the other week for £220.
to go with my salomon skis
 roll on 26th feb for the 3 valleys france

Not taking the piss or anything, but is it really worth buying your own skis and boots? I've thought about doing it, but I only go once a year for a week, two at most and couldn't really justify it?

Nice boots - they'll last you a long time. I've had my X Waves for a few years and used them every day of the week while I was on my season. They are practially falling apart now, but they are so comfy. Make sure you wear them for a bout 15-20 hours before you ski in them though. I didn't and they were agony skiing in for a few weeks

Buying your own boots is possibly the most influential piece of equipment you can buy when skiing with regards to how well you can ski.

short answer no. But the friend only used them for a week and there £550 worth of skis. So there practically new

Yup I agree 100% with this. Same with snowboarding. If you are going to buy one thing get boots. You only need to have 1 trip wasted due to your feet killing all week to realise its worth the investment.
I've had my current boarding boots for 7 week so far and are still good for many many more. They cost £140 so that £20 a week so far. To hire a set of boots costs at least that.
I would say if you know you are going to be going more after your 1st/2nd trip its the main thing to look at buying

On this whole snowboarding/skiing note, I recently snapped the high-back to my c60 bindings Absolutely gutted... i'll get some pics soon.

Hmm thats not so good. Are they newish? Might be worth sending them off to Burton saying your not too impressed with a top of the range binding snapping so easily. I've heard of people getting stuff replaced before (provided its not been screwed)

One of thems already been replaced once but tbh that was my fault and they simply swapped it, I got them a year ago though and on pro price so not sure how warranty stands... I'll probably send them to Burton with a letter and see what happens - they shouldn't snap like they did

I think that boots and skis are worth getting if you are doing a lot of skiing.
I personally bought boots (same as corsa mikes) and some Solomon X-Wing Blasts but only becos i am doing a season at the moment!!

Deffo worth the investment IMO.
Another few weeks of use and they'll have paid for themselves in rental fees alone. Plus the added comfort and no hassle with renting in general.
Helped me get to the bottom of these easier
