You need to be more specific mate. Is insurance a variable? What power do you want? What is your budget? If there was no budget (To an extent) I'd have a 1.6 16v on tb's or a 1.6 8v on carbs.

what sort of price would i be looking at to do a proper xe conversion including engine compared to a 1.6 on tbs?

In all honesty the 1.6 on TB's will be quite a bit more expensive. u2u Beardy for an XE conversion price and u2u Dave A for a 1.6 tb price mate

jamsport can do a tb conversion for a very reasonable price using jenvey parts and gotech management, will see great results, and its all kept in stock!
