After working for alfa i'll NEVER own one. They are some of the worse made cars in the world!

I agree they always look good. The engines look like works of art. Crap electrics though.

They are f*cking gorgeous, and as far as reliability is concerned, my dad bought his 156 brand new in 2000 and hasnt had any problems at all since! Just looked after it and serviced it etc and its been fine!

Same here faither bought a 1.8 TS in August '98 & ive got it now, never had a problem.

Let down once when the alternator belt snapped....no biggie

Only ever needed service parts & an exhaust manifold when the flexi started to leak, still on the original battery/exhaust/shocks etc

Still looks good too

250 horsies those

I've got two mates who've had alfa's.

Apart from anything the bits are expensive (new full exhaust £300 odd etc).

One had a few probs with electrics, one had two new engines (under warrnaty) in 6 months

I wouldn't touch them tbh, agree they look nice but there very inconsistent in terms of production by the looks of it plus the whole t-spark thing just halfs the mpg and doesn't double the power

Our old 2.5 156 was a fantastic car, never broke, sold it for 6k 3 years ago, was a company car, so it didn't matter about the depreciation
