We have not long hand our own server, with SPS 2003.
Its a meaty server with plenty to give us.

We dont however have SQL installed.

I was wondering what advantages SQL is and what it will bring to the company?
I do realise that it will add a search to Sharepoint Services, but thats all i do know.

Anyone care to give me their opinion/recommendation?

sql is a full database application, forums like this 1 run off mysql,

id suggest you install a programme called "WAMP" or if you on unix "XAMP" or mac "MAMP"
