I've recently got a new job that includes 3 rotating shift paterns, night's (10pm-6am), lates (2pm-10pm) and earlies(6am-2pm). I've neen on a "normal" day shift pattern for a couple of months to learn the ropes at the new place.

In my previous job i did rotating shifts of earlies and lates.

My qusetion is, what sleeping/eating patterns do those of you who do nights have? I start my first night shift next Monday.

I work both. For my day job i work 8am - finish (anywhere from 5pm to 8pm) and then i work on the doors from 10pm - 5.30am. I sleep like a baby and eat like a horse.

i get up as normal...do my shift so im awake like 26/27/28 hours or whatever...then on the morning of my last shift...TRY stay away

if you dont get it right it messes you up and you need a couple of days to recover..

The way our business is doing we could see a 24/7 operation. Currently we have an early shift (6:30am to 2:30pm) and a late shift (10am to 6pm).

The earlies is pretty much all I do because everyone else can't hack it. Lately I've found the best way to tackle the issues of sleep and eating is jsut shift your hours

for example on the earlies, I make sure to eat my breakfast before 7am or 8am if i'm busy.

Lunch is at 11/12 on the dot.

Then I get to the gym for about 3:30, work out for an hour which builds an appietite and makes me feel sleepy.

Try to get to bed for 8pm, so I get 8 hours sleep (perfect amount). Things that normally fuck me over is stuff on TV I want to watch, so I've got a PVR to sort that out - the other temptation is going out to the pub with a group of friends, I find that if I do this at least once a week then getting one bad nights of sleep isnt going to hurt

Sorry I cant help on the night shift thnig, I imagine its fucking gay.

I've done 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm shifts for past 6 years, and i'm used to them with the sleeping/eating patterns.

Just curious as to what peoples are that do nights as i've never done them.
