Unfortunatly i'm not a welder. Would love to learn.

But what i do know is, it's not like welding on the body. Needs to be very air tight. 30psi behind it.

I know that the metal can warp. So it'll never be air tight.

What i do not know is how easy it is to weld alloy. Some1 might have a look at this in the morning and say it's the easyest thing to weld.

I hope some1 does and helps you out more then I have.

I asked what wheel it was, coz if it's a cheep 15", i'd say buy a new one. Safer for me.

Tbh it is much safer to just replace the wheel. But if you are going to get it welded, you need to make sure the person doing it knows what there doing. Idealy they need experiance in welding wheels, and like Steve x16xe says, it's not the same as welding other thing's such as panels etc.

Once the wheel has been heat treated you can't weld it. End of.

i was always under the impression you could though?

surely there cant be anything wrong with welding over the crack, it will stop it from cracking more?

even if it is heat treated it will still weld it all you will need is toughened welding filler rods, you will have to be very careful when welding though to many amps and it will warp, only weld a little bit at a time and keep tapping the weld you have just done gently with a hammer this will stress relieve it, it will stop it cracking as long as its a good weld.
