Any idea on the size of the task and also how much it would cost?

grinding, tapping, welding, filling, flatting, priming, spraying, id say you have got to be getting towards the £400-500 region for a proper job. maybe more

lol, my car only cost £700.
How many people remove them or do most leave them on and spray or just leave them as normal?

Just keep them looking nice - if they're fading back to black 'em etc.

Spraying them would look wank imo.
By 'keep them looking nice' I mean keep them in a good condition, not tatty etc.

Mine aren't gray, more black. Hence why I said try back to blacking 'em.

They are painted are they not?? surely T-cut or a polish or something would do a better job?

Mine aren't - they're just plastic similar to around the bumpers & wheel arches etc.

I agree here, if you paint them it will most likely flake off and look worse than just keeping them shiney and black.

Worth trying the back to black Jay as IMO they were black originally just faded a lot now (like your door handles) Have a look in the garage If you can get through the door

They are metal. They are painted satin black to match the plastics.
I would say to leave them. Don't colour code them, looks odd. Only fill themif you know what you are doing. I was going to do mine, but I decided to respect the car for what it is and not bother. All cars have them anyway.
