Has anyone on here been to Cairns? Got any info on stuff to do, things to see? Thinking of adding Cairns as a stop over for when I go to Australia later this year. Going all that way we might as well see more than just Sydney.

my mate has just come back from aussie after spending a month out there watching the ashes and said cairns is good. Melbourne or Perth he said were better and night life in melbourne is suppose to be awsome 
edit - he also said it gets expensive though, ended up paying around 13k for four weeks for four of them

We have a few options for stop overs and Cairns is top of the list as it looks amazing.
Definately prepared for the cost. Working all year to save for the trip.
Will be well worth it

Melbourne is the biggest fucking shithole in the whole of auz. Perth is beautiful but boring, Sydney has best mixture of beaches and fun/nightlife. Cairns is fucking good fun. hot hot weather, amazing women

Yes very hot - very tropical, at night used to watch the storms over the rainforests.
When it rained in the day just used to stay out as it was like being in a shower.....
Swam in the barrier reef (went on a mahooosive Catamaran to get there) and got very badly sunburnt on my face  But the reef was amazing 
The next day went on a hot air ballon ride, with my silly sunburnt face which was peeling off

Go to green island its a great day out, go snorkelling aswell. Its brilliant. Ive been to Darwin, Alice Springs, Sidney, New South Wales an Cairns was by far my favourite..
