bluetooth head units (not head set) are the future was looking at a pioneer one the other day had caller display on it aswell really think im goind to get one.

Tbh it will have very little impact as most people aren't stupid enough to do it when they have a marked Police car behind them. However I think the penalty for those who overlook the flourescent battenburg and blue lights should be disqualification on the grounds that they are clearly too stupid to drive.

dodgy tracking means i need a hand on the steering wheel at all times, and i cant be arsed tryin to hold my fone, steerin wheel and change geat all the time, so i just pull over. always have

i have ussd my phone 3 or 4 times when driving, i prefer to us my blutooth headset so it wont make a personal differenve to me.

im implying that banning it will have little or no effect. just like most things like speeding etc.

waste of time and money.

Im implying that once peole start gathering up points they will soon take notice. The bosses son at my old work used to get about one a week, his phone never leaves his ear when he's driving. The £30 fines never even hit his pocket so he didnt care.....I think a ban may change his outlook though!!! Same goes for anyone else that dont take notice!!

agree with colin. i admit i pay no attention to ban and £30 wouldnt bankrupt me however 3 points will make me think and use my bluetooth headset i got at xmas

How do you plan on doing that? The risks are pretty obvious, and the increased "penalties" for being caught are ther for prevention.

End of the day it's driving without due care and attention/ being in full control of the vehicle, so I think the points are deffinatly a valid addition.

I drive with one hand on the wheel, no different to someone with a phone...

My stereo can be distracting, if I'm changing a CD, or if I'm scratching my leg, I'm not paying full attention...

It's a pointless ban. Banning cyclists would be more effective.

TBH i never use my mobile phone when driving ever

the only time i may take a call is if im in a convoy or something, and im trying to meet up with a mate or something on a road coming up, or if another car gets lost or behind to see whats happened

i think 3 points is quite harsh up the fine by all means they always want to remove your driving license at every stage now

I got hit by a car at work today and the person was using a mobile phone. They said they didnt see me

I dont know how they didnt cos i was wearing reflective cloths and shit

I'm just glad they were doing 10mph at the time and i wasn't on the motorway when i got hit.

This alarms me because I once got pulled for "using a mobile phone whilst driving".

The thing was, I forgot my phone that day! I didn't have it with me.

I even let the twat search my car just to prove a point. He didn't find a thing!

...and you know what he said "well, i definately saw you on a mobile"

so theyre banning using mobiles whilst driving cuz its distracting??

having a conversation with passengers can be distracting.
arguing with the mrs whilst driving can be distracting.
turning heater controls on/off is distracting.
smoking is distracting ur forever flickin out the window etc...

they say its dangerous to take a hand of the wheel. i rarely drive using both hands as i find it uncomfy so i get comfy and use one hand.

personally i can text without lookin at my phone so if im textin whilst driving, but still lookin on the road, in my mirrors etc where is the problem?

just an excuse for governing bodies to be able to say "look we are doing something good".

ill be happy with fines and points for usin a mobile if they fine every person who aint got license,mot,tax insurance a correct amount, because from feb the 27th u will get a similar fine for using a fone on the road, as someone who aint got the right to drive on the road.

yup, about time it came in to be fair! im a smoker and il put my hands up and say i smoke when driving, wouldnt grumble though if that got banned too!

For everyone's information the change in legislation also covers the offence of "Driver not being in a position to have proper control."

This means that things like eating, drinking and changing cd's could also mean 3 points.
