iv got a series 1 escort rs turbo and a mk2 golf gti 16v- the rs is great fun and and a great looker but can give abit of trouble due to people not looking afer them, mk2 golfs are a well built not that slow and good handleing if the right suspension is put on it, i built a fiesta rs turbo running 235bhp, 0-60 in 4.1 sec provern that was a quick car prob is there been batterd about in the past and to find a good one is hard now adays

It does put me off seeing all these breaking RSTs are ones selling with all these bad points. Its nice to hear actual owners opinions though, I think it probably is down to the fact most arent looked after and people want rid cos they cant be bothered with the hassle.

Dont buy a Fiesta RS Turbo.

The rad is too small and as a result the fan is constantly on and that can result in wiring issues.

They have 4 turns lock to lock on the steering which is far to slow and no PAS option.

Also lower rear engine mounts dont last long.

How about a RS 1800 Fiesta?

What about escort dave? Same issues? Id have a GTI over an 1800, rsts only really appeal to me over the 106 for the turbo power.

This is true Jimbo. Like with expensive, high depreciation executive cars, many seem to change hands too many times and nobody spends any money on them in the meantime. Consequently they get run into the ground.

You need to buy one from an enthusiast with money to spare, preferably someone who's had the car for a long time, and whose only reason for selling it is to upgrade to a Cosworth.

Mine cost me 8.5k over 6 years ago, which in some respects was a bit of a bargain; as a mint, red, standard one owner car with low mileage went for 8k at the same time.

Mine was also one owner, but was black which always commanded a premium. On top of that a king's ransom had been spent on it in improvements over an eleven year period, plus I had the benefit of having known the car almost since new.
