James, I think hes saying hes finished his apprenticeship, done mastertech training yet still on 3rd year apprentice money, how I read it anyway
Ive been working for volvo truck and bus for 5 years now.
Started out as an apprentice technician, passed all my exams etc with grades distinction distinction. i then completed all 8 modules of the volvo training.
i was then asked if i wanted to do the volvo master technician course as they need 2 people from our depot trained as master techs. i agreed to do this and got 100% in both tests and practical assesments.
im currently still being paid as a 3rd year apprentice, there is another guy i work with who started as a steam cleaner (no qualifications at all). As we do less steam cleans than when he started, he is now being trained in house as a mechanic.

Might be different working on HGV's
I understand what your saying though, 1 year out an apprenticeship & hes seemingly achieved what it takes others years to get to. However if he trained to that level & is carrying out the work then the rewards should be there.....age can no longer be a part of negotiations!!

yea i know its hard to belive, but i am the youngest master technician in the country (for volvo anyways).
its because the course is based all around modern technology on the trucks, and theres only 2 of us that really know our stuff. thats why i was put foreward
