I know there used to be a few of us on here that played, but Im talking 3 or 4 years ago...

Who plays? And who for?

Im thinking of getting back into it, had to stop playing ice hockey due to an injury but I carried on after a while playing roller hockey. Gradually slipped out of playing that but I miss it

Found all my stuff in the garage t'other day & I've nearly got everything, just need a few bits (could do with some pointers on whats good nowdays - Im so out of touch!)

Still got some of my goalie gear too..

Played for loads of teams for roller hockey!

Did you play at Rotherham rink? Or the Sheffield one near the arena?

play field hockey (its not a girls sport, have seen an on pitch tracioctamy)

but have also done some roller and ice, did loads of roller as a teen, then last couple of years attempted ice hockey, not good enough skater yet but have decent enough stick skills, and seriously powerful shot.

TTT

Anyone clued up on ice skates?

Looking at ordering some from the states but I've lost touch with whats good & what isn't

Stuff like this on hockeymonkey

http://www.hockeymonkey.com/ccmvector130zgsr.html

Massive reductions, but a bit unsure about the T blade thing

Really like the look of these http://www.hockeymonkey.com/easton-hssynergy900sr.html

Had some Easton skates before a& I was well happy with them. According to hockey monkey Easton don't allow them to ship to the UK though

Anyone in the know have a wee look in the clearance section & find me a bargin. Not too bothered about if its the lastest model but I'd like some half decent ones. Needs to be a 7.5 or 8

Cheers

ccm 852 super tacks should be fine. how serious you gonna be playin dude?? only $125 so not too expensive but good value. not a fan of the vector stuff. you want the best go on ebay and search for bauer xx or xxx's. so light but stiffest on the market. look awesome too

Hmmmm...

Had a few sets of Tacks in the past (Remember the insta-pump ones ) & they were good. But, they somehow didn't feel as supportive & comfy as my Eastons. Tend to be a bit thinner also

Had Vapours (4's & 8's) in the past & they were a bit too stiff. As you said though, very light

Its only for a bit of rec hockey, so don't need to go too mad. But one thing to bare in mind is that I shattered my foot when a puck hit it at about 90mph So I can't go for cheaper models as they aren't as protective

Its about £65 for the Tacks & £85 for the Eastons, which isn't much extra. CCM ones are an 04 model, which doesn't bother me a lot but I can get an extra 2 years worth of technology for another £20 which isn't bad

Got to speak to my Dads work friend who lives in Houston to see if he can post the Eastons over

new eastons are so stiff though. synergy skates are a 1 piece carbon boot. my mate john nash has them. they've brokn down really quick. modern skates are nothing like the old ones. break down too easy. ccm rh970's are the best inline hockey skates ever made but rare as fuck
