sit ups, light weights whilst sitting down, a weighted rowing machine that doesnt involve using her legs, could she possibly attempt any kind of press up? really any exercises she can manage no matter what they are will be better than her just sitting around doing nothing until she is 100% fit and able to swim, run etc

i woud recomned swimming, full body workout , jsut put a float inbetween her feet so they dnt need to be used, i do thias sometimes as it really works the upper body

if its a local pool im sure they hve to have disabled access, although like some one said just help her in and out the pool.

Either that or find a pool with disabled access and she can do widths using her arms only. Or buy her a pool bouy that she can put between her thighs and swim normally without kicking her legs as the bouy will keep her legs afloat
was going to suggest this,I know them as hand bikes though as its more pedalling that a row. kid i play football with was on crutches for about a year, he was always at teh gym on these.
