yeah its strong processor obviously not cutting edge any more, can run the 64 bit version of windows i wouldnt bother though.

i recieved a computer today

the one i ordered was discontinued so i recieved one with bigger hdd and differant processor wondering if ive had a good processor?

il post up the original now in a min

hmmmm clock speed of the amd is about 2.4 if memory recalls although, i belive the older versions of pentium were out classed by there amd equivelents on numerous aspects e.g gaming ect, however, dont quote me on that lol it may be bolix.

so my replacement computer is ok in comparisson with the pentium one i actually ordered! (due to one I ordered being discontinued)

As long as the AMD is socket AM2 then yea id say its better. If its 939, your ram is now DDR rather than DDR2 which it probably would have been with the intel.

the problem with Intel is that you pay te extra money for something that isnt much better. every machine we build comes with an AMD 64 3500+ which is the AM2 socket we never bother with intel tbh

i can tell you now that you dont have a dual core AMD system, AMD never made the 3400 in dual core variety

depends what you use the pc for lol? probally would meen changing mother board as well, id wait a bit longer but obviously depends on your needs.

if you can find out the socket type and motherboard brand of your new PC, then its easy to look for future upgrades
