But saying that Power isn't everything.... Oli (DHDev) he posts on here. Has just 164bhp from his 1.6 16v and yet his PB 1/4 is 13.8!!! Which beats a lot of these boys with over double the power!
yes agreed, but look at their top speeds, you cant have a 1.6 doing 160+map and do a 1/4 mile in 12seconds! its all in the gearing!
Hmmm.... Im sure some people have fitted the Big block gearboxes onto the small block engines.... Wa-la F28 160mph+ potential with a small block lump If only it was that easy... lol

yeah, I agree there.
I reckon there's a lot of cars which would set good times and drive home though.
I can't see Vauxhalls having the reliability disadvantage really.

jr, thats my point, fit standalone and you dont need things like afm, hence you gain reliability!
i mean look at my car, 190bhp from a 1.6 and it didnt last a track day....... vaux people are scrouges!

yes, but the engine is the only good thing going for that car and even that is being branded boring now. Back to 1.6s which, as you know, require ££££££ just to get them to accepted power.

jake, do you know how much money people spend on the 1.6 cvh engine?
i know my engine is costing a fortune, but in all honesty i didnt need a steel crank and dry sump kit......
good power can be had for 6k from a 1.6
and the mk2 astra is a great car!

There's a mk3 astra 4x4 turbo on MIG, along with loads of FWD ones.
Forget the ford lot for a minute, a thrash in the same setup, with mixed cars would be well worth buying a magazine for IMO.
