6 bodies apparently and 1 missing off the sea between Blackpool and Morcombe Bay.

Ferrying workers from the rigs, they were only 20 mins from land

Saw it on Sky news, makes me feel sick seeing the RN helicopter. We lost a relative in the sea at Blackpool in the summer. The RN helicopter pulled him and his mate from the sea, it brings it all back

AND it reminds me thats an added danger to working off shore on the rigs

As far as I know it was the Blackpool lifeboat that was involved in the summer, I've no idea where the Helicopters were based

These guys have a terrible job to do, the money that was raised at the funerals was split and half given to the RNLI.

One of them is still missing, I can't bear to think what his family are going through

They're saying they would all be wearing the right gear and stuff, and obviously done their survival training, yet they all drowned. It was coming in to land as well

Paper was saying it had picked up from two rigs and was on its way to the third then home to land

Apparntly the workers on rig 3 saw it "ditch" in the sea

Just flew to Blackpool today for lunch. There are lots of Police all over the place and people filming it for TV.

Heard that the helecopter was about 600 meters away from the rig so it must have been going slowly and low and there was no emergancy call, it also banked shaprly left before it ditched. At a guess the rear prop could have failed causing it to loose control very quickly and as they were going low and slow the pilot would not have been able to do much to correct it and ditch 'carefully' into the sea.

Must have been terrifying
