UPDATE..........From Simon's post on the MLR:
We hired Santa Pod Today to do some testing and in an attempt to improve our times (probably stupid considering its late December!)
Well we had MAJOR traction issues due to the cold weather, 15-20Mph head wind and the second triple plate clutch in a week gave up after trying to tame 739LbFt! (Quad plate next!)
Results were;
60 Feet: 1.734 Seconds
Best ET: 9.556 Seconds
Best Terminal: 158.31 Mph
Best 1/8th Terminal: 126.78 Mph
0-100Mph: 4.95 Seconds
0-150Mph: 8.83 Seconds
The above returns all UK Evo drag related records back to ND!
We have learned a lot from todays testing and have some more changes planned to finally catch our 8 second quarter next year. These times were recorded using full treaded Nitto 555R tyres.
Cheers
Simon

and the Reyland Sierra
As Lee has said, I had the Sierra up at Santa Pod today (it was actually a day booked by Simon Norris. There were three of us in total: Mr. Norris, Andy Barnes in his R33 drag car and the Sierra (or Dagenham Dustbin as Rob from Sumo called it )
My best times were on my second run. They were:
0-10mph 0.597sec
0-20mph 1.099sec
0-30mph 1.327sec (doing 30mph in 30.69ft - that's 9.35mtr!!)
0-40mph 1.886sec (Norris did 1.952 today)
0-50mph 3.022sec
0-60mph 3.572sec
0-70mph 4.282sec
0-80mph 5.731sec
0-90mph 6.652sec
0-100mph 7.655sec
The quarter mile times (Santa Pod timing) were:
60ft 1.771
1/4 mile 11.482@124.7mph (2nd run of day)
The other quarter mile runs were:
11.540@124.61mph (1st run) and
11.765@124.70mph (3rd run)
Cocked 4th run up
Some interesting thoughts/info:
Brief spec of car:
Reyland 2.0 engine with GT35. (606bhp@2.5bar)
17in wheels with Dunlop DO1s.
Straight cut syncro box (being used for 2nd time)
Was running between 1.5 and 1.7 bar boost (there are about 15 clicks on the boost knob, I'm told max boost appears to be in the middle of them somewhere - good to learn that after 4 goes trying the left and right extremes!).
According to the data it was taking me between 0.35sec and 0.45sec for each gear change (this is normal for a Cossie syncro box). Mr. Norris and Mr. Hadland on the other hand (with their sequential dog engagement boxes) average around 0.1sec per change. Needless to say, if the Sierra had a posh box it would save over a quarter of a second per gear change
Not sure what sort of impact the 15mph head wind had, but I'm guessing it wasn't doing us many favours!
Asd Porkie has already said, the car broke a rear shaft on my 5th attempt (a speciality of mine ) which is a shame, but could have been a lot worse...
Not sure whether it will ever see a drag strip again as we're talking about reducing the size of the turbo to make it better on track... plus I seem to break it every time I launch it! Time will tell...

holy fucking hell what a beast of a car
yeah it might be quicker than a Veyron, but i would still have the Veyron. its almost as fast in all instances, and its comfortable to boot, and can be driven sensibly when needed. saying that though, the veyron isnt a turbocharged 4 cylinder
kudos

Shame my rear differential didnt like it much though
I never made it to see you at the shell that time cos I had to take the car home... rear diff oil everywhere and a horrible grinding noise!!
still... replaced it with a nice WRC one now... so all is well !
Makes me sick to think though... the Norris Evo is doing 100mph by the time I have reached 60ish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allows the hot air thats exiting the rear of the intercooler to go out over the car instead of onto the engine. Helps keep the engine that little bit cooler
