Because you could get insured for your car for well under 2k even if you do have points etc... Try flux, shit company, good prices though..

I would bet they would do it much cheaper than what your paying... Thought you were older but 5500 is still ridiculous!
Worth phoning around a few companies..

Adrian Sux are f*cking useless in my experience im 19 years old with no NCB, but have two years claim free driving experience as a named driver. Adrian flux wanted 2700 to insure me on my 1.4 16V SRi, I laughed and put the phone down, f*cking jokers.

Flux are mongs, when i was insured through them in my 106 xsi they quoted me £1400, at 17 and not passing your test yet that was fucking amazing!!! It was about the same to insure a 1.0 fiesta!!!! I got pulled over by the police in it and although they said i had insurance it was insured as a 1.3 20 year old escort!!!! Car blew up a few days after so never bothered checking tbh but sounds a bit wierd!!!!

I payed £1400 on a 1.4sport when i was 18 i fail to see how it isnt beleiveable that a corsa with an engine from a car in insurance grp 17/8 will be that much to insure at the age of 18?? Thats only 1 year after 17.
I pay £700 on my callyT but im 23 and have 5yrs NCB.
