Most people I know grab one before they leave the station. You'd be surprised at how far away you can smell it as well.

i've been pulled countless times on account of doing the speed limit, i'd rather get pulled over afew times having done nothing wrong than have more uninsured/drink drivers on the road etc.
i hate the perspective that the police are always out to get you, if you're doing nothing wrong what have you got to fear?

There was a program on recently, they stopped a girl in her corsa.
Their computer said she wasn't insured.
She ensured them she was but they were usual police and would not listen.
They had got the tow truck down to tow her car and the only thing that would stop it was someone bringing her documents down, them phoning the insurance company (still not believing she was insured btw) then not so much as an apology.
I have never done anything wrong and have had more than enough run ins with the police to have a low opinion of them.

Oh and searched, cordoned off, armed police, vosa checked once. The usual.

I've been pulled 3 times in the last 2 weeks.
1 random check, was doing it to everyone.
2 another random check, where they checked my tyre tread, and I nearly got 3 points, escaped it by saying i will get new tyre 2moro.
3. not having lights on.
