One of my mates got engaged at the weekend to his long term girlfriend, he's the 1st of my mates to get engaged & well I dont know if / what im meant to do - will they be expecting a card or prezzie from me or is that not what happens??

Theres been no mention of a party or anything!!

Get them a card. If they have a party get them a present, nothing too fancy though.

My dad told me an engagements just an excuse for a pissup & get prezzies / money and to keep the woman happy

Thinking about it they have also recently (last week) got an offer accepted on a house so im thinking they got engaged for the prezzies / to d up the new house

As for partys, some do some dont (usually depends on the woman tbh)

get your mrs to send a card from both of you. dont bother with pressies or owt until you find out if having a party. we got engaged on the xmas day but didn't have party til end of feb. got cards from close family and friends twice, everyone else just at party.

I might send them a card......his wife to be has never met Jade so probably best it comes from me

He is a close mate but hes tight as fuck & I can see through him hes got engaged to get the house done up!!

when i got engaged we just went up the pub with mates to celebrate. got cards from parents but that was it. didnt expect anything from anyone really. It was about us not what other people thought
