Fucking rip off! I begrudge paying current prices, but £50 is mental! Had to pay nearly £100 for 6 months Road Tax today

the garages dont pay vosa for the mot's especially not 15 notes, you buy slots for 1 pound each usually 140 at a time. i think its not a bad idea paying more, the motor trade is the most shittest paid trade out there. not every garage will charge that tho we still only charge 35 notes

thats the reason why mot's r goin so expensive, because b4 computerisation there was garages doin 20 mot's a day n that, now they can only do roughly half that so thats why the price is so high. a recon

50.35 is the maximum a garage can charge for an mot. you can charge what you like other wise.

plus now you can only charge a maximum of half the test fee for retests

I think it's naff you have to pay more, then get done again if your car fails on something silly.

I got well done last month when my civic failed on one wiper not doing a good enough job of clearing the screen!!!

All it will do is keep on encouraging people to drive illegally which then means us legal peps are more likely to get hit by a non insured driver and get arsed raped again.

I know someone who drives ilegally, each time the police catch him (some times drunk) he goes to court, slap on the wrist and off he goes again. He did 2 months prison once for crashing into two parked cars drunk! I called him to see how his last court appearance went and he was stood in a scooby garage looking for a car!!

Just been listening to the radio at work and there is an advert for a car place in derby that does MOT's for £25. I know where it is and it is a normal garage, they also do powerflow exhausts there (but are the worst service ever, don't get me started!!!)

But how can they charge £25 if its goin up to £50?

He is and it really winds me up that I pay 1k insurance, £90 road tax every six months, and now £50+ for a MOT and people like him can just continue to abuse the system and pay nothing. Not forgetting he never got a licence in the first place so avoided paying for driving lessons and tests!! He has been driving for 4 years so you add up how much he has avoided paying. The 2 months in prison didnt bother him as he just played ps2 most of the time grrrrr.

I have mentioned I think it's a stupid thing to do, but what can you do. He is rather a large brick sh*t house of a guy so I can see him being the giver rather than the reciever.

The law needs to change and hit these people where it hurts. Bigger fines, and real prison sentances with no ps2.
