Just finished todays work. Since I will soon rebuild my engine and I have bought some Dbilas vernier pulleys I thought it would be stupid to hide them away behind the cambelt-cover.

So I decided to drill a big hole in the cover...and mount some PMMA (plexiglas) instead. It's not fitted to the engine yet...but this will come.

I'm very pleased with the result. Everything is home-made

If that hole was perfectly round and you coudln't see the glue that would looke very good.

just made this one for mine too.
just needs the screen in now unsure whether to get perspex though as it has a tendancy to scratch easy.

See if you can get a sample of Lexan from an acrylics manufacturer, that's less prone to damage.

Nice too Yes, perspex/plexiglass is easy to scratch. I'm sure you can't see through the windows after 2.000 km because of dirt...but who cares

I can see you drilled the hole a bit larger. I decided to drill it slightly smaller than the inner circumference of the pulleys. I was afraid that there wouldn't be space enough for the plexiglass plate (although not more than 1,5-2 mm thick). But if you are not using standard or Dbilas pulleys there is plente of space!

No problem.

If I was doing it, I think I'd just cut the hole, then line the edge with some sort of rubber channel trim (stuff like this cross section |_| ). Can alter your verniers through it then, and it'd look nice and tidy.
