My mate is building a Mk1 Golf race car for hill climbs, track days etc, just thought I would share some pics. Its a proper build, everything being done totally perfectly with weight saving being number 1 aim. Just a few pictures to give you the idea....

Stripped back to a shell, removed all underseal. Messy job like:-

Fibreglass wings, doors and bootlid:-

Fully seam welded:-

Climbing frame welded in.....

Race Spec 1800 8v Engine:-

Door pulls in place:-

Cage and Fire Equipment Mounted:-

Bubble Arches and rims trail fitted:-

Roof removed to allow full welding of top roof bars on cage

Alloy roof in place

And how the car will look once complete:-

and me being a gimp with the Corsa:-

You likey?

I look forward to seeing it at Doune hill climb at some point.

I take it he's running in the modified class? (slick tyres)

Lee - Corsa sold to Rhino, going this weekend! Just as well cause there is another Mk1 Golf going into the garage hence why I needed to get the Corsa sold

No idea what class he is running, he has a few different sets of rims and tyres but yep, will be at Doune at some point!
